BELARUS – NOC CELEBRATES ITS FIRST OLYMPIC CHAMPION’s 80TH BIRTHDAY

On the occasion of the celebration of his jubilee, Sergei Makarenko was awarded the medal of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus “For outstanding service”.

September 11 Sergei Makarenko, a sprint canoeist Olympic champion, world champion and two-time European champion, turned 80 years. Currently, he is fostering the Olympic movement in the representation of the NOC.

The celebration of the Belarusian champion took place in Minsk, at the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus. The event was also attended by Olympic champions and members of the NOC .

Sergei Makarenko received the award from the hands of the first vice-president of the NOC of Belarus Andrei Astashevich, who thanked the famous athlete for active participation in the development of the Olympic movement and expressed the hope that cooperation will continue in the future.
