1st WINTER YOG, INNSBRUCK 2012 – A WEEK FULL OF EMOTIONS

Innsbruck, 17th January – the 2012 Youth Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck, that began with Friday's highly colourful Opening Ceremony are now almost half way through.

The competitions continue one after the other and the first 63 medals up for grabs have already been snapped up.

The newly introduced Halfpipe event, which will also make its Olympic debut at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, was particularly successful.

The YOGs are indeed an excellent test bed with which to fine-tune the Olympic programme, as stated by IOC President Jacques Rogge at a press conference before the opening.
