PARIS 2024 – FUTURE ORGANISING COMMITTEE GETS DIRECTOR GENERAL
20 December 2017
Badminton Olympian Etienne Thobois, 50, will be Director General of the future Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and will thus keep the keys to his office as he already had a similar post within the bid committee since the beginning of the Paris project.
Announced Tuesday December 19, the choice of Etienne Thobois was fully expected, but it was still necessary to wait for the formal interviews of all four candidates before the news could be made official.
Tony Estanguet, who has already been confirmed President of the future organising committee, personally informed French President Emmanuel Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo by phone the same evening.
The Organizing Committee of the Paris Games 2024 (COJOP) will be formally incorporated on January 18, 2018.
