Prof. Ugur Erdener, President of the Turkish Olympic Committee, says his favourite sporting memory of the past 50 years was witnessing weightlifter Naim Süleymanoğlu win gold at the Olympic Games Seoul 1988, the first Olympic gold medal for Turkey outside of wrestling.

Süleymanoğlu went on to win two more Olympic gold medals at Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996. He was also a five-time World Champion and five-time European Champion for Turkey during his illustrious career.
