KRAKÓW-MAŁOPOLSKA 2023

From 21 June to 2 July 2023

New sports such as Padel, Teqball, Rugby Sevens, and Breaking were introduced. The event focused on sustainability by using existing venues and minimizing new construction. For the first time, the EOC Refugee Team participated, and the athlete roster achieved a near-equal gender balance, with 49% identifying as women. These initiatives highlighted inclusivity, innovation, and environmental responsibility.

In short-track speed skating, Hungary broke the record in the 2000m mixed team relay with a new time of 2:50.253 on Track A. The best boy was Daniel Pedranzini, the most successful athlete, who won three individual gold medals in cross-country. The best girl was Michaela Strákova from Slovakia, the most successful girl, who won two gold medals in biathlon.

25 EYOF records were broken, including Türkiye’s Emir Batur Albayrak (boys’ 400m freestyle) and Kuzey Tuncelli (boys’ 1500m freestyle, Olympic qualifying time). Ylann Bizasene set a new boys’ 100m record (10.44). Italy topped the medal table with 16 golds (46 total), followed by Germany with 11 golds (31 total). 68 athletes won multiple medals, including Italy’s Daniele Del Signore (6 golds, swimming) and Germany’s Helen Kevric (3 golds, 3 silvers, gymnastics). Other highlights: Max Hinds’ 48 km solo road race breakaway (GBR) and Slovenia’s girls’ volleyball gold.
