The European Olympic Committees (EOC) Brașov 2027 Coordination Commission (CoCom) has completed its first on-site visit to Romania, touring venues set to host the Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in February.
Led by CoCom Chair Damir Stajner, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Serbia, the delegation included EOC Executive Committee member and EYOF Commission Chair Líney Rut Halldórsdóttir for the trip from 16-19 March.
The CoCom and EOC staff visited all sports and non-sports venues that will host the Winter EYOF from 14–21 February 2027 alongside the Brașov 2027 Organising Committee, taking in sites for ice hockey, 3×3 ice hockey, alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, biathlon, figure skating, short track and ski mountaineering, as well as both Athletes’ Villages and the sites for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
In a series of working meetings, the Organising Committee, led by Chair George Scripcaru, Mayor of Brașov, and Executive Director Dan Ghiță, Deputy Mayor of Brașov, presented its progress to date, outlining its structure and how services will be organised and delivered to participating National Olympic Committees (NOCs). Discussions also covered the delivery of the first information package for NOCs, and hotel options and services for the EOC Family.
A wrap-up session was held to agree on next steps, with the Chefs de Mission Seminar confirmed for 23-24 September 2026.
