COMMUNITIES COME TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF UNIVERSITY SPORT
20 September 2019
Today, September 20 marks the International Day of University Sport (IDUS) and celebrated the special role that sport plays in the educational institutions.
Officially endorsed by UNESCO and the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the day is held annually to raise awareness on how sport can be fully integrated into the education of today’s and tomorrow’s citizens.
With the aim of creating links between universities and local communities, a series of events are organised worldwide: from leisure sport activities and competitions to workshops and cultural happenings.
With the slogan #LetsIDUS, many European universities and institutions are also taking part in the initiative by organising special activities in their campus, sport clubs and cities.
In 2018, over 500 activities have been organised all over the world and the most active country has been Hungary, with 160 activities in 36 locations, which engaged 180,000 people.
Will IDUS 2019 exceed the numbers of last year and who will be awarded the most active country? Stay tuned by visiting FISU website here
