EOC ELECTS ANNEKE VAN ZANEN-NIEBERG TO ANOC EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

European NOCs have chosen Anneke van Zanen-Nieberg as the EOC’s elected representative on the ANOC Executive Council through to 2030.

Europe holds six seats on the ANOC Executive Council. Three are held by the EOC President, Vice-President and Secretary General for the duration of their terms, and two are appointed by the ANOC President in consultation with the EOC President. The sixth seat is elected by the NOCs of Europe.

Van Zanen-Nieberg, President of the NOC of the Netherlands and a Member of the EOC Executive Committee, was the only candidate for the elected European seat and received 39 votes, with one abstention.

The vote took place during an online EOC Extraordinary Elective General Assembly convened by EOC President Spyros Capralos under Article 12.6 of the EOC Constitution, which allows an urgent General Assembly to be called at five working days’ notice. The urgent procedure was required to meet ANOC’s notification deadline.

“President Capralos said:

“All of the EOC’s seats are important. They ensure a strong voice for Europe in ANOC’s decision-making.

Anneke, sincere congratulations. I know that you will represent our colleagues with the enthusiasm and professionalism that you bring to everything you do.”
