Istanbul set to host the 4th European Games Chefs de Mission Seminar with less than one year to go

National Olympic Committees from across Europe gather in Istanbul for four days of venue tours, plenary sessions and operational briefings, as preparations for the continent’s premier multi-sport event enter their final year.

The 4th European Games Istanbul 2027 Organising Committee will welcome National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from across Europe for the Chefs de Mission Seminar, with less than one year remaining until the continent’s premier multi-sport event gets underway in Türkiye.

The Seminar runs from 29 June to 2 July, bringing together Chefs de Mission from across the European Olympic family for four days of venue tours, plenary sessions and meetings with Functional Areas.

Over the course of the Seminar, delegates will tour proposed competition venues and Athletes’ Villages across Istanbul, with full venue confirmation to be announced at a later date. The visits will give NOC representatives a first-hand look at the infrastructure being developed to host Europe’s leading athletes in 2027.

The plenary programme will feature presentations from the Organising Committee’s Functional Areas, allowing Chefs de Mission to engage directly on all areas of Games planning and delivery.

With 26 sports on the programme — 22 of them Olympic — and significant qualification places on offer for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028, Istanbul 2027 represents a pivotal moment in the European sporting calendar. For many athletes, it will be the defining opportunity to secure their place on sport’s biggest stage.

EOC Coordination Commission Chair Mihai Covaliu said: “With less than one year to go, this Seminar is an important moment for our preparations. It gives our Chefs de Mission the opportunity to see first-hand what is being built here in Istanbul and to engage directly with the Organising Committee. We are encouraged by the progress that has been made, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with the Istanbul 2027 team in the months ahead.“
