PIOTR NUROWSKI PRIZE – MEET ITALIAN GYMNAST GIORGIA VILLA
25 October 2019
Giorgia Villa is one of the 5 amazingly talented young athletes in the run for the 2019 Piotr Nurowski “Best European Young Athlete” Prize.
“Winning this prize would mean a lot to me. It will be the acknowledgement of all the sacrifices I made to get to this point and of the ones I still have to make in my career”.
The 16-year-old Italian artistic gymnast has been selected after being crowned 2018 European Junior Champion and winning 3 gold (All-around, Vault and Floor Exercise) and 1 silver medal (Uneven bars) at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires 2018.
Giorgia has recently won an historic bronze with the women’s National team at the 2019 World Artistic Championships in Stuttgart. This victory had a special flavour for her, as it was the first World Championships women’s team medal for Italy since 1950 and also secured the country a place for Tokyo 2020.
