President Capralos meets new Serbian NOC President Tomašević

EOC President Spyros Capralos today visited Belgrade to meet with recently-elected Serbian National Olympic Committee (NOC) President Dejan Tomašević.

President Tomašević, an Olympic basketball silver medallist at Atlanta 1996, succeeded Božidar Maljković to lead the NOC of Serbia in December 2025.

President Capralos was hosted by President Tomašević, together with the NOC Secretary General Damir Stajner, at the Olympic House in Belgrade.

They discussed the development of the Olympic Movement in the country and opportunities for further collaboration between the EOC and the NOC of Serbia.

President Capralos praised the NOC of Serbia for its work and results achieved in international competitions, and looked forward to working closely with President Tomašević.

“I had a very constructive meeting with the President and Secretary General of the Olympic Committee of Serbia,” President Capralos said.

“We have a long tradition of friendship, and that led us to discuss the possibility of Serbia organising future major EOC events.

“We know Serbia can be great hosts and great organisers, and we have many exciting ideas for the future.”

President Tomašević also expressed his gratitude for the meeting with President Capralos.

“I can say with great enthusiasm and great respect that Mr Capralos is a friend of Serbia and Serbian sports for many years, and that we had a really constructive conversation,” President Tomašević said.

“I am especially honoured that we had the President of the European Olympic Committees visit, just one month after the appointment of the new leadership.

“On this occasion, we remembered good times and joint cooperation, and I am sure that in the coming months, that cooperation will be on an even greater level.”
