I hope this message finds you well as we come to the close of what has been a quieter August for many of us. I trust you’ve had some time to rest and recharge with your loved ones.
I am delighted to share some outstanding highlights from our Piotr Nurowski Prize winners over the past month. It is inspiring to see recent winners thriving and even finalists from as far back as 2014 continuing to excel at the highest levels of competition. This truly underlines the importance of the pathway of events offered by the EOC.
Looking ahead, the 10th Winter Edition of the Piotr Nurowski Prize will be awarded during the 45th EOC Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum in Malta—just one month from now. This occasion is always a special moment for us to celebrate the achievements of Europe’s most talented young athletes, and the shortlist of nominees will be announced soon. I look forward to seeing many of you there for what promises to be an engaging and productive gathering.
Beyond Malta, we have the 8th European Athletes’ Forum and Assembly in London and the European Evening of Sport in Brussels both approaching in November. I know our NOCs will also be in full preparation mode for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
I am also particularly pleased to share that the IOC has expressed strong interest in implementing a programme inspired by our highly successful European Young Olympic Ambassador (EYOA) initiative at the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026. This recognition is a testament to the impact of the programme and the excellent work we continue to deliver together. I look forward to presenting more details to the IOC Executive Board in September.
Thank you, as always, for your dedication and support.
Warm regards,
Spyros Capralos
EOC President
