The winner of the 2022 Winter Piotr Nurowski Prize for Best European Young Athlete Nika Prevc and her brother Domen Prevc, both ski jumpers, first made history together by winning a memorable gold medal in the mixed team event at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
With this outstanding result, Slovenia successfully defended the Olympic Mixed Team title claimed four years earlier at Beijing 2022, while the Prevc family became the first to have four siblings each win a medal at the Olympic Winter Games.
The siblings’ shared dream came true at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium, an iconic venue in the heart of Val di Fiemme that embodies this sport.
Domen Prevc made his career breakthrough at the Vorarlberg & Liechtenstein 2015 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) with a gold in the team event and a silver in the individual competition.
On Tuesday (10 February), he stood on top of the podium with his sister Nika at Milano Cortina 2026.
“Our parents have always been so supportive, and I am super thankful,” said Domen.
“Competing with Nika also takes it to another level. She is performing really well, with good distances.
“To be on the podium together is one of those things I hope will go down in history.”
Nika Prevc’s career also began with success at the Winter EYOF, winning golds in the individual and team events at both Vuokatti 2022 and Friuli-Venezia Giulia 2023.
She also earned three medals at the European Games Kraków-Małopolska 2023, where ski jumping was the only winter sport on the sports programme.
Her talent was recognised further by the EOC when she won the 7th Winter edition of the Piotr Nurowski Prize, awarded annually to young athletes who excel in their sport and embody the Olympic Values both on and off the field of play.
Nika Prevc has also claimed her first-ever individual medal in the normal hill event at the Olympic Games, giving Slovenia its first medal of Milano Cortina 2026.
She reflected on her achievement of winning mixed team gold with Domen.
“There is nothing better than sharing the most famous medal in the world with my brother,” said Nika Prevc.
The two siblings were flagbearers for Slovenia at the Opening Ceremony, and are united by their shared passion for ski jumping. Together, they created their own piece of Olympic history at Milano Cortina 2026.
