7 April 2021
Sixteen candidates are running for the 6th Winter Piotr Nurowski Prize (PNP) “Best Young European Athlete”.
To select the five finalists, three candidates will be nominated by the 50 NOCs of Europe, while the other two will then be chosen by a panel of experts comprising the EOC President, the Vice-President, the Secretary General, the Treasurer, the Chair of the Athletes’ Commission and the Sports Director. See the full list here.
The deadline for the final nominations is 30 April 2021.
The award ceremony will be held during the 50th General Assembly, which is scheduled in Athens, Greece on 10-11 June 2021.
The winner takes home a €15.000 training scholarship, the second and third place €8,000 and €5,000 respectively, whilst the fourth and fifth will both receive €3,000.
The annual prize is awarded to young, up-and-coming athletes that over the past years have showcased not only outstanding sporting achievements, but also exceptional conduct on and off the field of play. It was created in memory of former President of the Polish Olympic Committee Piotr Nurowski who tragically died in 2010 in a plane crash.
Last year’s winter prize went to Italian biathlete Linda Zingerle, who continues to accumulate successes to her brilliant career.
