SUMMER PIOTR NUROWSKI PRIZE – MEET VIKTORIA LISTUNOVA
8 November 2021
Viktoria Listunova is one of the five finalists for the 2021 Summer Piotr Nurowski “Best European Young Athlete” Prize (PNP).
Born in the Russian capital of Moscow in 2005, Viktoria is a fantastic gymnast who first made her mark in junior competitions.
In 2018 and 2019 she made her first appearances on the European and World levels, winning 4 gold medals in three different disciplines in 2018 and 13 more in 2019 – in all 5 different artistic gymnastic disciplines.
She then took her medal collection to the next level as a senior, becoming the 2021 European all-around Champion and winning team gold at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 at the age of 16.
A hard worker, Viktoria says she considers her candidature for the PNP to already be a success. Winning the prize would be a great source of personal and national pride, she adds.
Asked about the best memory from her career so far, she says without a doubt that it was the gold-medal winning team performance at Tokyo 2020.
The award ceremony is due to take place during the EOC Seminar in Samorin, Slovakia on 25-26 November 2021, with the winner taking home a € 15,000 training scholarship, the second and third place €8,000 and €5,000 respectively, whilst the fourth and fifth will both receive €3,000.
