12 November 2020

Born in Bolzano (ITA) in 2002, 18-year-old biathlete Linda Zingerle has been nominated for the  2020 Winter Piotr Nurowski “Best European Young Athlete” Prize after clinching a gold medal in the Mixed Relay and a silver medal in the Single Mixed Relay at the Winter Youth Olympic Games Lausanne 2020.

When asked what this prize would mean to her, she says: “If I win this prize, I will be very honoured and happy, but I think there are a lot of young athletes out there who deserve it as well.”

At the IBU Youth & Junior World Championship Biathlon 2020, Linda was at the top of her game and brought home an impressive hat-trick of medals – gold in sprint, silver in the women’s relay and bronze in the pursuit.

“The medals have indeed been a big surprise. Not only the individual ones, but also those won with the team, those in particular have a special meaning to me. It’s really a pleasure to represent my nation,” she says.
