EOC President Janez Kocijančič has been honoured the prestigious Order of Merit of the European University Sport Association (EUSA).

The award was handed over to Kocijančič by EUSA Secretary General Matjaz Pecovnik during a visit in Ljubljana, Slovenia on 5 December 2019.

Within the framework of its 20th anniversary, EUSA rewarded individuals and institutions who have been committed to give a significant contribution to the development and promotion of university sport in Europe over 2018.

EUSA wanted to pay tribute to the EOC President in recognition of his continued support to the initiatives of Europe’s university umbrella organisation, paving its way to the cooperation with other sport governing bodies.

EOC and EUSA signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2018, with the aim of strengthening the general cooperation and joint activities between the two organisations, as well as promoting sport and education in Europe.

Other EUSA Order of Merits have been also bestowed to the University of Coimbra along with its former Rector Joao Gabriel Silva, as well as Head of the European Commission’s Sport Unit Yves Le Lostecque.
