Estonian pole vaulter Moser sets under-18 world record on day one of Skopje 2025

Estonia’s Allika Inkeri Moser cleared 4.52 metres in the Girls’ Pole Vault to win the first athletics gold of the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Skopje, North Macedonia, setting an under-18 world record in the process.

Moser’s stunning performance lit up the first day of competition at the EYOF Skopje 2025, which also featured medal events in shooting and swimming.

Moana Peyrard of France and Anastasia Boumpoulidi of Greece took silver and bronze respectively.

EOC President Spyros Capralos presented the first athletics medals of the EYOF and offered his congratulations.

“It was an honour to present the first medals at this magnificent venue to these talented young athletes here at the EYOF Skopje 2025,” President Capralos said.

“To have a world under-18 record set in the first athletics event is a wonderful start to this EYOF, and proves that the future of European sport is competing here in Skopje this week.

“Many congratulations to Allika Inkeri on this fantastic achievement, and indeed to Moana and Anastasia for their medal-winning performances!”

Kelly Doualla of Italy set a European under-18 record on her way to an impressive victory in the Girls’ 100m, clocking 11.21 seconds, while Nikodem Dyminski of Poland won the Boys’ 100m in 10.50.

The first shooting medals at the Sports Hall Partizan N.N. Borce also produced a European under-18 record, as Türkiye’s Elif Berfin Altun scored 421.2 to win the Girls’ 10m Air Rifle.

Boys’ 10m Air Rifle gold went to Akos Marta of Hungary, while Spain overcame Ukraine by 12 points 10 to win the 10m Air Pistol Duet gold medal match.

In swimming at the Olympic Swimming Pool “Centar”, Spain’s María Santana Beneyto won the Girls’ 400m Individual Medley in 4:54.32, and Zeteny Janos Sarkany won the Boys’ 400m Freestyle in 4:01.05 to earn Hungary’s third gold medal of the day.

That left Hungary top of the medal table, with 23 of the participating delegations winning medals on the first day of the EYOF Skopje 2025.

This first day of competition, full of emotions, also saw the start of the tournaments in Badminton, Basketball, Handball and Volleyball.
