At its monthly Executive Board of Directors’ meeting on Israel’s 69th Independence Day, the National Olympic Committee of Israel hosted top artistic gymnastics talent Agnes Keleti, who was awarded “The Israel Prize”.
The award was given to her by the State of Israel for her exceptional achievements as an Olympic athlete who won 10 Olympic medals, five of which gold (in Helsinki 1952 and Melbourne 1956 – while representing Hungary) for her contribution to the development of artistic gymnastics in Israel and the training of hundreds of physical education teachers over fifty years.
She is considered to be one of the most successful Jewish Olympic athletes of all time NOC President Igal Carmi, Executive Board member Yael Arad, also the chair of the Prize Committee that chose Keleti, presented her with the special and unique prize.
The Israeli NOC also organized a welcome reception for Israel’s most decorated gymnast of all time, Alex Shatilov, who won a bronze medal in the floor exercise at the 2017 European championships held in Romania. It was the seventh medal of his career.
