Poland’s Girls’ Team and Lithuania’s Boys’ Team won gold medals in 3×3 Basketball on a busy penultimate day at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) Skopje 2025.
The entertaining 3×3 Basketball competitions drew to an exciting conclusion at East Gate Mall, and Poland edged the Girls’ final 16-13 against France. In the Boys’ final, Lithuania produced an outstanding display to overcome France 21-14.
Slovenia took both Girls’ and Boys’ bronze medals.
Türkiye claimed a memorable victory in the Boys’ 4x100m Medley Relay, and Swimming concluded with gold for Hungary in the Girls’ 4x100m Medley Relay.
Among the other finals, Ukraine’s Makar Yakhno picked up his second individual gold of Skopje 2025 by winning the Boys’ 400m Individual Medley, while Irene Ciercoles Galve of Spain won two golds in one day through her victories in the Girls’ 100m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle.
Maksim Malyshka, representing the NOC of Belarus, completed a Boys’ Breaststroke double by adding 100m gold to his earlier 200m success, and Arel Gultekin of Türkiye followed his Boys’ 200m Butterfly triumph by winning the 100m Butterfly on day five.
Moldova won their third Shooting gold of Skopje 2025 with a 21-19 victory over Azerbaijan in the 10m Air Pistol Duet Hit/Miss final, while the NOC of Belarus edged the 10m Air Rifle Duet Hit/Miss final 21-20 against Hungary.
Among today’s Athletics highlights, Belgium’s Clementine Byl claimed a dramatic victory in the Girls’ 2,000m Steeplechase, and Mina Hirsbrunner of Switzerland triumphed in the Girls’ 400m Hurdles.
There was an Italian treble as Margherita Castellani won the Girls’ 200m, Alessia Succo triumphed in the Girls’ 100m Hurdles and Diego Mancini took Boys’ 400m Hurdles.
Nino Radosavljevic Kusljic of Sweden triumphed in the Boys’ 200m, and Sebastian Loerstad made it a Swedish double in the Boys’ 3,000m.
In Artistic Gymnastics, Great Britain’s Ewan McPhillips followed his Individual and Team All-Around golds by winning the Boys’ Floor Exercise.
Uzair Chowdhury made it a British double on day five with victory in the Boys’ Rings event, while in the Boys’ Pommel Horse gold was shared by Sweden’s Ben Schumacher and Nikita Prohorov of Germany.
Girls’ Vault gold went to Italy’s Mia Proietti, and Elena Colas of France won the Girls’ Uneven Bars.
Italy continue to lead the medal table going into the final day of Skopje 2025 with 16 golds, 16 silvers and 10 bronzes.
They are followed by France on 11 golds and Hungary on 10 golds, and 39 of the participating delegations have won medals so far at Skopje 2025.
Tomorrow is the final day of competition at the EYOF and will be followed by the Closing Ceremony. The full schedule can be found here.
