UPCOMING FRANCOPHONE GAMES TO BE IN ABIDJAN

Paris, 11th April 2014 the 8th Francophone Games will take place in Abidjan in the Ivory Coast from 21st to 30th July 2017. The announcement came after the signature of the host city contract in Paris last 7th April at the headquarters of the International Francophone Organisation, between the International Committee for the Francophone Games (CIJF) and Daniel Kablan Duncan, who is Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast and President of the country’s NOC, in the presence of Abdou Diouf, the Secretary General for Francophony.
The ceremony marks the official start to preparations for these 8th Francophone Games, which will be organised in the name of solidarity, diversity and excellence.
The Francophone Games are the most important Francophone sports and cultural event dedicated to youth, representing a unique opportunity for young Francophones from around the world to meet, compete, and share their different values and cultures linked by the common thread of the French language. A record number of participants are expected, including 4000 young athletes and artists from 77 Francophone nations.
The 2017 Francophone Games hope to top the record for the last edition in Nice, France, of 250 million TV viewers.
