The EOC has today joined celebrations to mark the 35th anniversary of the founding of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the Republic of Moldova.
EOC Executive Committee member Mihai Covaliu, who is President of the Romanian NOC, attended the Olympic Dinner which recognised the Republic of Moldova’s contribution to the Olympic Movement over the last 35 years.
On behalf of the EOC, Mr Covaliu praised the NOC of the Republic of Moldova and its President Nicolae Juravschi for their sporting achievements.
“Under the leadership of President Juravschi, a great two-time Olympic champion in Canoe Sprint, Moldova has achieved record-breaking results. They include four medals at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, and your first European Games gold medal at Kraków-Małopolska 2023 through Artiom Livadari in Muay Thai,” Mr Covaliu said.
“These achievements demonstrate your nation’s dedication to sporting excellence and the Olympic values. Your contribution extends far beyond medals. Vice President Cristina Vasilianov served with distinction on the EOC Executive Committee and now plays a vital role on our Istanbul 2027 Coordination Commission.
“Congratulations once again on 35 years of outstanding contributions to the Olympic Movement.”
Moldova will be represented by five athletes at the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
