EOC DIGITAL, TECHNOLOGY AND AI COMMISSION MEETS IN MADRID

The EOC Digital, Technology and AI Commission held its latest meeting at the headquarters of the Spanish NOC in Madrid on 20–21 April 2026, chaired by EOC Executive Committee member Victoria Cabezas.

The visit started with a tour of Deloitte’s Sports Innovation Hub, followed by a meeting with Deloitte and Microplus, where participants explored emerging trends, innovation, and ongoing developments in the sports technology landscape.

Commission members then reviewed progress on the IT contract with the 4th European Games Istanbul 2027 Organising Committee, examining roles, responsibilities and the steps required to finalise the agreement. The meeting also highlighted newly developed support tools to help the local organising team define responsibilities across key areas including scoring, timing and technology delivery.

A new digital platform designed to improve information sharing with NOCs across Europe was suggested, with the project to be further developed and proposed to the EOC Executive Committee in June. The Commission also reviewed findings from the post-45th EOC Seminar & OS Forum survey, which provided insight into NOCs’ digital priorities and needs.

The Commission discussed how digital and technology activities can be better integrated within the EOC Strategic Agenda, with closer coordination planned with the Marketing and Communication Commission. Members also heard from ANOC on AI usage across the global NOC community, reinforcing the value of sharing knowledge and best practices beyond Europe.

Chair Cabezas said:
“This meeting demonstrated the strength and commitment of our Commission and the broader NOC community to work together on the digital and technology challenges that matter most, especially as AI continues to develop. We feel like we are making real progress, and we are doing it collectively.”
